We understand. You are proud of your 20 year-old furnace, but is it proud of you? An older HVAC system isn’t necessarily saving you money by simply heating or cooling your home. Older furnaces and air conditioners are notorious for wasting energy. They are inefficient.
Whether fuel prices are up or down “at the moment” are not as important as the ratings of your system. A poor efficiency in an HVAC system means hundreds, if not thousands of lost dollars on an annual basis. Over a short period of time, an old furnace can become more and more of a drain.
Shamrock Heating & Cooling has been helping homeowners to consume less fuel and be more energy efficient for more than 40 years. We know green. Our name is Shamrock after all!
DO YOU KNOW YOUR
HVAC System Rating
Your furnace and air conditioner should have the highest possible energy efficiency ratings. The simple rule is that the higher the rating, the more efficient the system. The higher the rating, the lower the energy usage.
We recommend the components of your HVAC system must meet the following minimums to be considered energy efficient:
Furnaces The Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency or AFUE rating should be rated at 80 or higher.
Air conditioners The Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio or SEER ratings should be at 13 or higher.
You may have heard of the Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR program. The program was designed to help lower our nation’s energy consumption. Shamrock Heating & Cooling recommends that when we help you choose a heating or ac system that we always choose an HVAC system with the ENERGY STAR logo along with the highest AFUE and SEER ratings your budget will allow.
